How does a washer and dryer improve attendance?

Regular and consistent school attendance is directly tied to success in school and likelihood of graduation. In some of our school districts, nearly 30% of students are chronically absent and are at serious risk of falling or dropping out if they can't be brought back to school. But CISPAC is here to help.

Students who regularly miss school are rarely just blowing it off - there is a barrier for them or their family that is difficult to overcome on their own. For instance, for many students at Arsenal Middle School this year, it was not having clean uniforms.

Arsenal serves many families that live below the poverty line - 10% of the student body is experiencing homelessness. Getting to, or even affording the laundromat can be an unsurpassable hurdle for families who struggle with juggling jobs, or lack transportation, or don't know where they will sleep on a given night.

Thanks to CISPAC's Site Manager at Arsenal, Sakinah Shaahid, the students at Arsenal will soon have a solution. Thanks to the community of support from local businesses and people like you, Sakinah was able secure a new washer and drier for the school. Students who need it will be able to drop off uniforms to be laundered for them, so that they can be clean, confident, and comfortable attending school and focus on learning.

We need your help to break down more barriers for students throughout the Pittsburgh region. Will you give today?
