Mentoring at CISPAC

Be a Middle School Mentor

CISPAC’S Middle School Mentoring program pairs 6-8th grade students with caring adults that promote academic success and character development by:

  • Offering guidance and encouragement

  • Piquing interest in career pathways

  • Modeling positive behaviors

We currently have mentoring programs in the following schools:

  • Manchester Academic Charter School

    • Thursdays: 11 am – 11:45 am

  • East Allegheny: Logan Elementary

    • Tuesdays: 2pm – 3:25pm

  • East Allegheny: EA Junior/Senior High School

    • Wednesdays: 2:25pm -3:25 pm

  • Pittsburgh Public: King K-8

    • Wednesdays: 12:50 pm – 1:35 pm

  • Pittsburgh Public: Manchester K-8

    • Fridays 1:45 pm – 2:30 pm

CISPAC is also organizing new programs in the following schools (meeting days/time TBD):

  • Duquesne Elementary School

  • Sto-Rox Junior/Senior High School

  • Jeannette Junior/Senior High School

  • Pittsburgh Public Schools (North Side)

All children need to be encouraged, especially by caring adults who can empower their academic success, character development, and a stronger future. Being supported by someone other than a parent or family member, like a mentor, can often open students’ eyes to new perspectives and expand the way they imagine their path.

Research has shown that, regardless of personal or academic backgrounds, children who participate in mentoring programs are:

  • 52% less likely to skip class

  • 55% more likely to attend college

  • 46% less likely to use illegal drugs
