Last year, Communities In Schools of Pittsburgh worked with over 100 community volunteers and mentors to provide 5,000 hours of service and mentoring!
CIS of Pittsburgh is always looking for individuals or groups that are interested in helping us with our mission. No matter what form of assistance you can give, we cannot succeed without the help of community members like you.
1) Be a Middle School Mentor (BAMSM)
Through partnership with the United Way of Allegheny County, CISPAC facilitates this city-wide program at 4 sites on the North Side of Pittsburgh. For just 1 hour a week, you can change the life trajectory of a middle school student.
Middle schoolers with mentors:
- Are more engaged in school
- Get better grades
- Make attendance a priority
- Enjoy time with their mentors
- Learn about all kinds of things
- Like the support
2) Working Committees
From Development to Human Resources, CIS of Pittsburgh is always looking for skilled professionals from a variety of different industries to give time and talent within working committees. There is no required time commitment, and a staff or Board member from CISPAC will talk with you about how to best match your interests and your talents in order to make an impact.
If you are a student and need to earn credits, CIS of Pittsburgh can help! Administrative and Development staff can work with you to meet your required hours. Small, monthly stipends may be available on a case by case basis when a student makes a semester-long commitment.
4) Administrative Office Support
If you have to fulfill a community service requirement, if you’re retired and need a project, or if you just want to contribute to a good cause, we can use you! We are always in need of general administrative support. Filing, data entry, quality control, and similar tasks are very valuable and truly make our work more impactful.
